I picked these first flowers from my early spring garden. I wanted to keep the painting light and airy, like the feel of Spring. I thought it needed a light background to maintain that feeling. Little did I know the challenge creating the white petals on the white drapery would be! I started out with a white cup behind the grouping, but I just did not like the look of it. I eventually took it out and replaced it with the little purple vase. I am much more satisfied with that.
Happy Spring, everyone!

One of the first projects in art school was to do a color painting of a white egg, on a white plate, on a white tablecloth...other white stuff in there too. It makes you see the color in white.
