I was so pleased to see the wonderful article about flower painting in the March issue of Plein Air Magazine ....and there's my painting, "Bucket of Sun"! What an honor!

I used a little painting knife technique in this painting. I wanted to play a little with the technique as I know several artists whose work I admire that use painting knives throughout their process. I often paint in a way that simulates that technique, using brushwork to accomplish my goals, but I thought it was time to see how the knife would differ. It felt a little awkward not being used to it, but I'm sure I will continue to practice at it.
